Home Makeover Ideas
Decorating your home with a country theme adds warmth and style that your loved ones will enjoy. First impressions are often lasting impressions so begin with the area around the entrance to your home. Porches are a great place to start, add an antique rocker or primitive chair that invites your guest to sit for a spell. An old wood crate or keg makes a nice accent piece and a great plant stand, hand painted welcome slates are a nice touch and be sure to include some Primitive seasonal decor as well.
Just inside the door, that cold tile foyer floor is easily warmed by adding one of our Braided Rugs along with a primitive piece of furniture such as a hall console, adorned with a candle or a Primitive Light for added warmth. Primitive country décor goes a long way in making guest’s feel welcome or putting them at ease.
As your friends sit in your gathering room and observe the Country atmosphere you have created by placing a hand sewn quilt over the back of a chair or the antique sewing machine sitting in the corner with a piece of old homespun draped across it they will feel at home. Removing that cold uninviting TV stand and replacing it with our primitive handcrafted Entertainment Center finished in a 2 tone antique finish will add a touch of class without destroying your country atmosphere. Accent you family heirlooms by adding a garland or two along with a beautiful piece of Rowe Pottery or decorative plate.

Kitchen Decorating Ideas
The kitchen is probably the easiest room in your home to give a natural country feel. Start with a few of grandma’s rustic cooking utensils or old baskets hanging from the beam above the bar. Then add an old wooden bowl to the bar or purchase some Treenware, fill this with a few pieces of “country” fruit. Every country kitchen ought to have a few antique furnishings such as a primitive Hoosier Hutch but a reproduction piece or an old jelly cupboard serves the purpose just as well. Decorate the top of your cabinets with old tins and a berry garland or two. For a center piece on your table get an inexpensive wood plate or an old agateware pie tin pour in some potpourri and add a juicy apple candle. You almost have the feel of grandma’s old farmhouse kitchen.
Laundry Transformation Tips
That dull, drab unattractive laundry is relatively simple to transform into a bright, cheery room. No painting of the walls or woodwork is necessary the more primitive it looks the better. Purchase an old washtub at the local auction stand it up in the corner or hang it by its handle on the wall above the washer. For an accent piece you might consider an antique dry sink or a rustic copper wash boiler. If you can find an old wringer it will add a nice touch, if not primitive flat irons are readily available at your local flea market for a few dollars and they remind us of years gone by. Finish off your project with a bar or two of grandma’s lye soap and a couple of reproduction laundry tins from our inventory or maybe even a “Laundry Help Wanted” sign. Don’t forget some of our Laundry Day potpourri to give your laundry an authentic fresh linen aroma.
