About Us
Country Porch Primitives began as a hobby for Jan Martin, she enjoyed decorating her log home in Country Décor and decided to get into the retail end of the business. Since the Martin family already owned a supermarket and fabric store she just added a small shop on the second floor of Martins Country Markets in their Hayloft Fabrics department.
For several years Jan's shop and Hayloft Fabrics coexisted in the same area but with the growth of both business's floor space became a premium. In the summer of 2006 the Martins decided her little shop had outgrown its surroundings and it was moved to a 3000 square foot area on the first floor. This area was renovated to give Country Porch Primitives its desired effect; barn beams, an old country porch and even an outhouse were included in the décor. Stop in and visit us on the first floor of the Martins Country Market building in Morgantown Pennsylvania.
Meet Our Staff
Jan Martin
As was previously mentioned, Country Porch Primitives was Jan's hobby - her dream job. She is our buyer and constantly on the look out for new items to carry in her shop. Here at Country Porch Primitives you will find Jan prides herself in only offering the best quality merchandise. When she is not out on a spending binge you will find her helping Cathy around the shop arranging the décor. Can you hold this a second, now move it to the right, now down, try up a little, there that looks good. Constant change seems to be Jan's theme, just kidding!
Cathy Hartz
Cathy is the manager of Country Porch Primitives you will find her somewhere around the store on a daily basis. Always assisting customers or remerchandising to achieve the desired appearance. One of the jokes here at Country Porch Primitives is when Jan goes buying she buys for the shop and one extra for Cathy's home. Like Jan, Cathy enjoys decorating her home with the merchandise you find for sale in our shop. This enables here stay on top of what is new for the coming year or what is still a popular from the past year. Diane Petersheim
Diane Petersheim is one of our sales associates, friendliness and service with a smile is not just her motto it is her personality. From assisting you with placing a furniture order to ringing up your purchases, you can be sure she will do whatever she can to assist you in your decorating needs.
